The Aviation Law Section of the State Bar of Texas exists to provide education and information that equips, encourages, and supports attorneys practicing aviation law in the state. Once again the section had a successful year accomplishing that mission, with robust member participation at the annual meeting and annual early morning breakfast at the Southern
Methodist University Air Law Symposium in Dallas. At the breakfast meeting, the section enjoyed an informative presentation by Andrea Palmer of Anderson & Riddle in Fort Worth. The section also awarded a scholarship to a Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law student. A committee was formed to explore the possibility of board certification in aviation law. The section is also pleased that Larry Wansley, the director of security for the Dallas Cowboys and former managing director of corporate security for American Airlines; Michael Dufault, chief counsel to Jet Aviation Americas; and John Chaussee, the director of federal airport security for Southwest Airlines; were panelists at the 2017 Annual Meeting in Dallas.
